The Event Master of Ceremony Danny Ramadan
Ramadan is an award-winning author, storyteller and LGBTQ+ Refugees activist.
He started the Evening in Damascus in 2015 as a community-led fundraiser and it grew since with the support of sponsors, organizers and volunteers to raise over $150,000 in total.
Bero Saker: Oud Playing
Bèro was born in Latakia, Syria. He comes from a musical family where his father plays the Oud and his grandfather is a locally known folk singer in Syria. He founded Tishreen University band and he played with Vancouver Inter-cultural Orchestra, Laoadessa band, and Trhal band to name a few.
He currently attempts to revive Arabic music at UBC by leading a Middle Eastern Music Circle for students in the Arab students Association at UBC. With such an epic sound fusing jazz with Middle Eastern traditional music, Bero Saker’s years of experience in playing the Oud come to impress the audience again and again.
